Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
We take your privacy seriously. Tangor AI (the "Software") is designed around the principles of being local-first and collecting as little as possible: by default, your conversation records are kept only on your own device.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Software handles and protects your information. Please read it together with the User Agreement.
1. Core Principles
- Local storage: The conversations, custom Q&A, settings, and search index captured by the Software are, by default, stored entirely in the application data directory on your local device and are not automatically uploaded to our servers.
- No telemetry: The Software contains no third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not send your usage behavior back to us in the background.
- No Software account: Using the Software does not require registering an account with us. You simply sign in directly to the third-party AI websites of your choice.
2. How We Handle Information
2.1 Conversation Capture
To enable local archiving and search, the Software automatically records the question-and-answer content visible to you while you browse supported AI websites, including:
- The text of your questions and the AI's answers;
- Metadata such as conversation titles, the originating site, and timestamps;
- Tags, favorites, and feedback (thumbs up/down) that you add within the Software.
The Software does not capture your account passwords, login credentials, keystrokes, raw web cookies, or any other private information unrelated to the Q&A content.
2.2 Clipboard-Related Feature
The Software offers a "custom Q&A" capture feature: only after you actively trigger the designated global shortcut will the Software, for a short window (about 60 seconds), read changes to your clipboard text in order to collect the question and answer you copied. Outside of this triggered scenario, the Software does not continuously monitor your clipboard in the background.
2.3 Local Search Index
To support fast searching of your history, the Software builds a full-text search index (FlexSearch) from your local database. This index is generated and used entirely on your device and is not transmitted elsewhere.
2.4 Third-Party Site Sessions
So you don't have to sign in repeatedly, the Software stores session information (such as cookies) for each third-party website locally. This session data is kept on your device and encrypted; the Software does not read or upload your plaintext credentials.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Storage location: Data is stored in the application data directory assigned to the Software by your operating system (for example,
~/Library/Application Support/on macOS), in a local SQLite database file. - Encryption: Sensitive local data is stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM, with the encryption key kept locally on your device under restricted permissions.
- Your control: You may view, search, export, or delete any record within the Software at any time. Uninstalling the Software and clearing its data directory removes the associated local data.
4. Network Behavior
- The Software connects directly to the third-party AI websites you visit through embedded web views; these connections are not relayed through our servers. Your data exchanges with those sites are governed by their respective privacy policies.
- You may optionally configure a proxy (HTTP/SOCKS) for the web views. Proxy settings are stored only locally, and whether to enable them is entirely your choice.
- The Software may show system desktop notifications (for example, task-completion alerts); these are generated locally.
5. Optional Cloud Sync / Backup
- The Software may offer an optional cloud sync or backup feature. This feature is disabled by default and takes effect only after you actively enable it and configure a sync endpoint.
- When sync is enabled, the relevant data is, by default, encrypted before upload. Whether to enable it, and where to sync, is entirely your decision and under your control.
- When synchronization is enabled, your encryption key is not uploaded; it remains stored exclusively on your local device. Therefore, you are solely responsible for securely recording your encryption key to ensure that your data can be recovered in the future; should it be lost, neither you nor anyone else will be able to recover your data.
- If you do not enable this feature, your data always remains local only.
6. Information Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not disclose your local data to any third party without your consent, except:
- Where you actively choose to export, share, or sync your data.
7. Protection of Minors
We will not sell or rent your personal information, nor will we disclose your data to any third party without your consent, except in the following circumstances:
- Situations where you voluntarily choose to export, share, or synchronize your data;
- Under the aforementioned premise, to comply with applicable laws and regulations, court orders, or mandatory requirements from government authorities.
8. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be released together with new versions of the Software. Please review it periodically to stay informed about how we handle your information.
